PETITS OISEAUX is taken from a fragment of 19th century cotton printed in a single colour in the manner of a toile de Jouy. The design is typical of French prints post-1880: little birds, delightful and naturalistic, are perched on delicate foliage, poised for flight or chasing butterflies.
We have printed the design on natural linen in colourings that give the design an unexpected sophistication but, to reflect its French provenance, it is also offered as blue and raspberry.
